THE MONKEY

After years of playing various clubs around New York City, Dominic Frasca has decided to open The Monkey. Designed around a state of the art surround sound audio system, The Monkey will focus on presenting live music in the surround sound format. "I want to create the ultimate boutique performance space," says Frasca. "A space that is all about the music, the sound and the visuals, not about selling drinks."

When asked why he decided to take on such a venture Frasca is steadfast in his answer. "I am tired of going to clubs to play or hear music in sonically hostile environments," he exclaims." Either the sound system is shot from the thrash metal band who played there the night before or there is bleed through from the next room over, not to mention the sound of drinks being poured."

Along with the sound system The Monkey will also be equipped with an array of visual devices to allow the artist to present multimedia performances. When asked how The Monkey will differ from the usual NYC club Frasca explains, "Every artist who performs here will have the equipment and the time they need to present their art at its highest level. Most clubs give a performer 30 minutes to setup their gear and sound check, at The Monkey the performer has 4 days."

"Most importantly, after the performer has shaped their sonic and visual canvas to their liking, we want each audience member to experience that vision perfectly, without distraction." For this reason The Monkey will seat no more than 35-40 people per show guaranteeing every audience member will have the ultimate surround sound experience, as well as an incredibly intimate view to the performer. "I want the audience to leave feeling as if they have been in a sonic environment like no other," says Frasca. "That's what The Monkey is all about."

The Monkey is located on 26th between 6th and Broadway.
